Target Information
8-Hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) is an oxidized derivative of deoxyguanosine. It results from the hydroxylation of the 8th position of deoxyguanosine (dG), one of the four DNA bases. It can be measured in various samples, including urine, serum, peripheral blood leukocytes, and organ tissues. It is one of the major products of DNA oxidation. While 8-OHdG is widely used, other markers like thymidine glycol (TG), 8-hydroxy-guanosine (8-OH-G), and 8-hydroxy-guanine (8-OH-Gua) also reflect oxidative damage.
