Target Information
The Steroidogenic Acute Regulatory Protein (StAR), also known as STARD1, is a transport protein that plays a crucial role in the production of steroid hormones. Steroidogenic Acute Regulatory Protein is encoded by the porcine STAR gene. It has acute hormone responsiveness and the ability to stimulate steroid production in the absence of hormone stimulation. Porcine STAR cDNA has been shown to share general homology with previously described mouse, human, bovine and rat sequences.
