Target Information

Oxytocin is a natural hormone that controls key aspects of the female and male reproductive systems, including labour, birth and lactation. It is a peptide hormone and neuropeptide normally produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. It influences behaviors related to attachment, trust, and empathy. Treatment with oxytocin and carbetocin can reduce farrowing duration during sow parturition.
