Target Information

Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is effective in inducing labor or abortion. PGE2 is synthesized from arachidonic acid by the action of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. It is produced in various tissues, including the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and reproductive organs. It has been reported that PGE2 may be an important regulator of the biochemical and physical changes that occur in the cervix during labor.
