Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, a cytokine, promotes the proliferation and maturation of hematopoietic precursor cells across diverse lineages such as granulocytes, macrophages, eosinophils, and erythrocytes. Studies demonstrate an increase in granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor levels in alveolar macrophages of sheep infected with the maedi-visna virus, facilitating virus replication within macrophages in controlled laboratory settings.

User Note
- Always centrifuge tubes before opening. Avoid mixing by vortexing or pipetting. Reconstitute in 20mM Tris, 150mM NaCl (pH 8.0) to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Aliquote the reconstituted solution to minimise freeze-thaw cycles.
