Target Information
Mouse Group IID Secretory Phospholipase A2 (Pla2g2d) is a calcium-dependent enzyme that hydrolyzes the sn-2 fatty acid ester bond of glycerophospholipids, producing free fatty acids and lysophospholipids. It is highly expressed in dendritic cells and plays a crucial role in immune regulation. Pla2g2d has anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive functions, contributing to the resolution of Th1 immune responses by controlling the levels of anti-inflammatory lipids such as docosahexaenoic acid and its metabolites. In mouse models, Pla2g2d deficiency exacerbates psoriasis and contact dermatitis, while overexpression ameliorates these conditions. Additionally, Pla2g2d has bactericidal activity against Gram-positive bacteria by directly hydrolyzing bacterial membrane phospholipids.
