Target Information
Interleukin-1 beta is encoded by the IL1B gene in horses. This potent pro-inflammatory cytokine was first identified as a major endogenous pyrogen. It induces prostaglandin synthesis, promotes neutrophil influx and activation, and stimulates T-cell activation and cytokine production. Additionally, it activates B-cells and enhances antibody production, as well as promotes fibroblast proliferation and collagen production.
