Target Information
Mouse Caspase-7 (Casp7) is an executioner caspase involved in the final stages of apoptosis, a programmed cell death process. Casp7 cleaves specific substrates to dismantle cellular components and ensure orderly cell removal. In mouse models, Casp7 has been implicated in various biological processes and disease states. It plays a role in the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by promoting inflammatory response and apoptosis. Casp7 also contributes to immune responses, with its loss-of-function linked to autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome. Additionally, Casp7 has been studied in cancer, where it can act as both a tumor suppressor and a promoter depending on the cellular context. Its role in mediating the effects of certain drugs highlights its potential as a therapeutic target. Casp7 is expressed in various tissues, including the alimentary system, central nervous system, and heart, and its dysregulation has been associated with conditions like hypertension and fatty liver disease.
