Target Information
Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 11B, also known as Osteoprotegerin, functions as a decoy receptor for TNFSF11/RANKL, thereby neutralizing its role in osteoclastogenesis. In rabbits, this protein is encoded by the TNFRSF11B gene. In a rabbit model of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACR), OPG use significantly reduced the number of osteoclasts and increased bone formation, improving the quality of bone tunnel healing. OPG deficiency can lead to severe osteoporosis. OPG inhibits osteoclastogenesis and activity by binding to its ligand RANKL.
