Target Information
In rabbits, the IL2 gene encodes interleukin-2, a cytokine predominantly produced by activated CD4-positive helper T-cells, and to a lesser extent, by activated CD8-positive T-cells and natural killer (NK) cells. It plays crucial roles in modulating immune response and tolerance. Interleukin-2 binds to a receptor complex that can either be the high-affinity trimeric IL-2R, consisting of IL2RA/CD25, IL2RB/CD122, and IL2RG/CD132, or the low-affinity dimeric IL-2R, composed of IL2RB and IL2RG. Researchers use techniques like ELISA, RT-PCR, and flow cytometry to study IL-2 expression and function in rabbit tissues.
