Target Information

Rat phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP) is a 69-kDa secreted glycoprotein predominantly expressed in rat liver, plasma, and adipose tissue. It mediates intermembrane transfer of phospholipids and lipid exchange between lipoproteins, regulating lipoprotein metabolism, reverse cholesterol transport, and cellular lipid homeostasis. Critical for maintaining plasma lipid balance, vascular health, and inflammatory response modulation in rats, it influences atherosclerotic lesion development and lipid-induced tissue damage. Dysregulated activity associates with hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis, and metabolic syndrome in rat models. As a key mediator of lipid transport and metabolic regulation, rat PLTP is a critical target for studying cardiovascular pathobiology, metabolic disorders, and lipid-modulating therapeutics.
