Target Information
Mouse integrin alpha 2 (ITGA2) is a transmembrane glycoprotein subunit encoded by the Itga2 gene in Mus musculus, mapped to chromosome 10. It belongs to the integrin alpha subunit family, featuring a conserved N-terminal von Willebrand factor A domain, multiple epidermal growth factor-like repeats and a transmembrane domain with no cytoplasmic kinase activity. It localizes to cell membrane, with tissue-specific expression in mouse platelets, endothelial cells, fibroblasts and epithelial cells, with low levels in immune cells. The protein forms heterodimers with integrin beta 1 to exert functions, with conserved motifs critical for ligand binding and dimerization. Mouse ITGA2 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct ligand affinity differentiating it from other integrin alpha isoforms.
