Target Information
Rat lymphocyte activation gene 3 (LAG3) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, a critical immune checkpoint receptor. It features four conserved extracellular Ig-like domains, a single transmembrane segment, and a cytoplasmic tail with multiple phosphorylation motifs critical for structural stability and signal transduction. It localizes to the cell membranes of rat activated T lymphocytes, natural killer cells and dendritic cells, with negligible levels in resting immune cells and non-immune tissues. The protein mediates T-cell activation inhibition and immune tolerance modulation, with conserved motifs for ligand binding and downstream signaling. Rat LAG3 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct binding affinity differentiating it from CD4 and other Ig-superfamily receptors.
