Target Information
Thrombin plays a pivotal role in thrombosis by promoting thrombus formation through the cleavage of fibrinogen to generate fibrin. Antithrombin III (ATIII) serves as the primary inhibitor of thrombin by binding to its catalytic and substrate binding sites, thereby inhibiting its activity. When thrombin binds to ATIII, it forms a stable thrombin-antithrombin (TAT) complex, which demonstrates high stability in plasma and effectively reduces the activity of free thrombin. In mice, the thrombin-antithrombin complex (TAT) is primarily involved in regulating thrombosis and anticoagulation processes.
