Target Information

Type I iodothyronine deiodinase (DIO1) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in thyroid hormone metabolism. Type I Iodothyronine Deiodinase is encoded by the DIO1 gene in pigs. DIO1 is primarily found in the liver, kidneys, and thyroid gland. Research has shown that DIO1 transcripts in the muscle and pancreas is decreased by high dietary Se and fat.
