Target Information

Serine/threonine-protein kinase ATR is a serine/threonine protein kinase that triggers checkpoint signaling in response to genotoxic stresses such as ionizing radiation, ultraviolet light, or DNA replication stalling, acting as a DNA damage sensor. In mice, the primary role of ATR is associated with chromosome pairing, recombination, and DNA damage response during meiosis. ATR is crucial in mouse meiosis, especially for the pairing of homologous chromosomes (synapsis) and recombination. Additionally, ATR is vital for maintaining the integrity of chromosome axes. The absence of ATR results in the death of spermatogenic cells during mid-pachynema, underscoring its essential role in the normal progression of meiosis.
