Target Information
PPP1R15A is a crucial protein involved in endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER stress) and the integrated stress response (ISR). It facilitates the dephosphorylation of the translation initiation factor eIF2α by interacting with protein phosphatase 1 (PP1), thereby ending translation inhibition and restoring protein synthesis. Additionally, PPP1R15A contributes to the antiviral response and dendritic cell activation, notably in the production of type I interferon and proinflammatory cytokines. In mice, the protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 15A (PPP1R15A) performs various biological functions, primarily related to stress response, metabolic regulation, and cell death regulation. In a mouse model subjected to a high-fat diet, loss of PPP1R15A led to reduced food intake, decreased weight gain and fat accumulation, and enhanced insulin sensitivity.
