Target Information

Bovine Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid Receptor Subunit Alpha-2 is encoded by the GABRA2 gene in cattle. It is an alpha subunit that forms part of the GABA-A receptors. These receptors are ligand-gated chloride channels and are activated by the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain, GABA. It is one of the ionotropic receptors which has been related to anxiety, depression and other behavioural disorders, including drug dependence and schizophrenia.
