Target Information

Mitofusin-1 is a GTPase located in the mitochondrial outer membrane, essential for mediating mitochondrial clustering and fusion, potentially involving significant rearrangement of coiled coil domains. In mice, Mfn1 is involved in mitochondrial fusion, metabolic regulation, cell fate determination, and disease-related processes. In Alzheimer's disease model mice, Mfn1 expression increases, potentially linked to its role in neuronal synaptic plasticity and mitochondrial function. In mouse oocytes, the absence of Mfn1 leads to accelerated oocyte apoptosis and infertility, indicating its critical role in mitochondrial function and oocyte development.
