Gonadotropin-releasing hormone is encoded by the chicken gene GNRH1.It plays a key role in ovulation and egg production in chickens. Research has shown that the GnRH1 gene is polymorphic and has a significant effect on body weight, egg production and egg quality traits in White Leghorn laying hens. Dysregulation of GnRH can impact fertility, puberty, and various reproductive disorders.
