Target Information
Death-associated protein kinase 2 (DAPK2) is a calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine/threonine kinase that participates in various cellular signaling pathways influencing cell survival, apoptosis, and autophagy. It regulates both type I apoptotic and type II autophagic cell death signals. In mice, DAPK2 serves a range of biological functions, including roles in erythropoiesis, tubulointerstitial fibrosis, autophagy regulation, granulocyte differentiation and migration, tumor suppression, obesity, and neurovascular function. DAPK2 is expressed in mouse tubulointerstitial cells and promotes fibrosis in a chronic cisplatin-induced nephropathy model. The absence of DAPK2 reduces tubulointerstitial fibrosis, highlighting its profibrotic role in the fibrotic process.
