Target Information
In mice, the function of cross-linked C-telopeptide of type II collagen (CTX-II) is primarily associated with cartilage degradation and the progression of osteoarthritis (OA). CTX-II, a cross-linked product of the C-telopeptide of type II collagen, is widely utilized to evaluate the extent of cartilage degradation. Numerous studies have demonstrated that elevated CTX-II levels closely correlate with the severity of osteoarthritis in patients. Beyond being a crucial biomarker, CTX-II might also contribute to osteoarthritis treatment. For instance, research has shown that the progression of osteoarthritis can be slowed by inhibiting the production or clearance of CTX-II.
