Target Information

Lysophosphatidic acid receptor 3 (Lpar3) is a receptor for lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), a bioactive lipid mediator involved in a wide range of cellular processes. It appears to be coupled to the G(i)/G(o) and G(q) families of heterotrimeric G proteins. In mice, Lpar3 has diverse functions, including regulating embryo implantation and spacing, influencing behavior and cognitive function, participating in cardiovascular and metabolic regulation, and playing a role in the reproductive system. Research has shown that Lpar3 deficiency in female mice can result in delayed embryo implantation, embryo crowding, and reduced endometrial cell proliferation. These effects are linked to enhanced progesterone signaling and a relative weakening of estrogen signaling, which further exacerbates the issue. Additionally, Lpar3 deficiency is associated with altered collagen expression in the myometrium, potentially impacting the structural integrity and function of the uterus.
