Target Information
In its soluble form, chloride intracellular channel protein 1 (CLIC1) catalyzes glutaredoxin-like thiol-disulfide exchange reactions using reduced glutathione as the electron donor. It reduces selenite and dehydroascorbate and may serve as an antioxidant in response to oxidative stress. CLIC1 has several vital functions in mice, including maintaining cell membrane stability, regulating oxidative stress response, participating in immune and inflammatory regulation, promoting tumor development and metastasis, regulating angiogenesis, and influencing platelet function. In a mouse model, CLIC1 knockout led to platelet dysfunction, characterized by prolonged clotting time and a diminished platelet response to ADP stimulation.
