Target Information

Progesterone is a crucial steroid hormone that regulates reproductive functions in mares. In birds, the metabolism of testosterone in the central nervous system produces reduced metabolites that play a role in controlling male sexual behavior. Progesterone may compete with testosterone for 5 alpha- and 5 beta-reduction, potentially affecting the sexual behavior of birds.
