Target Information

Rat forkhead box P3 (Foxp3) is a 47-kDa transcription factor specifically expressed in rat regulatory T cells (Tregs) and subsets of activated T cells. As a master regulator of Treg development and function, it controls transcription of Treg-signature genes (e.g., CD25, CTLA-4), maintaining immune tolerance by suppressing effector T cell activation and pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Critical for rat immune homeostasis, it prevents autoimmune diseases and modulates immune responses to pathogens and tumors. Dysregulated expression or function leads to immune dysregulation, inflammation, and autoimmune pathologies. As a definitive Treg marker and central mediator of immune tolerance, rat Foxp3 is a critical target for studying immunology, autoimmune disorders, and tolerance-based immunotherapies.
