Target Information
8-Isoprostane serves as a crucial marker for lipid peroxidation, with elevated levels typically associated with oxidative stress. For instance, in the cerebrospinal fluid of mice, 8-isoprostane concentrations rapidly rise post-infection, demonstrating its high sensitivity in the early stages of oxidative stress response. Furthermore, 8-isoprostane is utilized to evaluate oxidative stress levels in chronic inflammation and disease models. In diabetic mouse models, there is a significant increase in its levels, indicating enhanced renal damage and oxidative stress. Additionally, 8-isoprostane acts as a vasoconstrictor, influencing vasoconstriction and relaxation by interacting with receptors on vascular smooth muscle, such as TxA2 receptors. In mouse models, elevated 8-isoprostane levels may be linked to dysfunctional vasoconstriction. It also plays a significant role in the inflammatory response by promoting the release of inflammatory factors through the activation of signaling pathways like mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK).
