Target Information
Apolipoprotein C-II is encoded by the APOC2 gene in dogs. APOC2 serves as a cofactor for lipoprotein lipase and is necessary for the activation of LPL and subsequent clearance of triglycerides. APOC2 is secreted into plasma, where it becomes a component of very low-density lipoproteins (VLDLs) and chylomicrons. It plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and lipoprotein transport. Coding variants in APOC2 are rare in the canine population.
