Target Information
Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) plays a crucial role in inhibiting the activation, proliferation, and functionality of various T-cell subsets, thereby safeguarding organisms from inflammatory and autoimmune disorders that may arise from an excessive immune response. The functions of TGF-β1 in fish mainly include immunomodulation, inflammation suppression, regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation, and tissue repair. Researchers have discovered that the administration of TGF-β1 significantly hinders the proliferation of tilapia T cells, diminishes the potential for Th1/2 differentiation, and compromises cytotoxic functions, ultimately making the fish more susceptible to bacterial infections.
