Target Information
Heat Shock Cognate 70 (HSC70) is a crucial member of the highly conserved 70-kDa heat shock protein (HSP70) family, playing a vital role as a molecular chaperone in fish. Unlike its inducible counterpart, HSP70, HSC70 is constitutively expressed under normal physiological conditions, serving as a "housekeeping" protein essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis. It actively participates in a multitude of fundamental cellular processes, including the proper folding of newly synthesized proteins, the assembly and disassembly of protein complexes, intracellular protein trafficking, and the repair or degradation of misfolded or damaged proteins. In fish, as ectothermic organisms, HSC70's functions are particularly critical for adapting to varying environmental temperatures and other stressors, ensuring protein quality control and cellular resilience in dynamic aquatic environments
