Target Information
The C-terminal telopeptide (CTX), also known as carboxy-terminal collagen crosslinks, is a peptide sequence found at the C-terminal end of fibrillar collagens, including collagen type I and type II. CTX serves as a biomarker in the serum to measure the rate of bone turnover. The cross-linked C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen, or CTXI, is a sensitive but also rather variable marker of bone resorption.
