Specifications
Target Information
Factor VIII participates in blood coagulation. It acts as a cofactor for factor IXa, which, in the presence of Ca2+ and phospholipids, forms a complex that converts factor X to the activated form Xa. Dogs with hemophilia A are severely deficient (<1% activity and antigen) in coagulation factor VIII (FVIII). It functions as a cofactor in the blood coagulation cascade for the proteolytic activation of Factor X by Factor IXa.
