Target Information
8-Hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) is a product of oxidatively damaged DNA formed by hydroxyl radical, singlet oxygen, and direct photodynamic action. It can function as an indicator for oxidative stress. It is a marker of oxidative damage to DNA. It results from the hydroxylation of the 8th position of deoxyguanosine (dG), one of the four DNA bases. It can be measured non-invasively in various samples, including urine, serum, peripheral blood leukocytes, and organ tissues.
