Specifications
Target Information
Collagen type I alpha 2 is encoded by the COL1A2 gene in the dog. It plays a crucial role in the formation of type I collagen, which is abundant in various connective tissues, including bone, skin, tendons, and cornea. Mutations in the COL1A2 gene are associated with conditions such as osteogenesis imperfecta (types I-IV), Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and idiopathic osteoporosis. Research has reported that canine COL1A2 mutation results in C-terminal truncation of Pro-α2(I) and severe osteogenesis imperfecta.
