Target Information

Synaptojanin-1 is a protein involved in endocytosis at synapses, the junctions between neurons. It helps to recycle synaptic vesicles, essential for efficient neurotransmission. It is found in presynaptic terminals of neurons. It is a brain-enriched lipid phosphatase critically involved in autophagosomal/endosomal trafficking, synaptic vesicle recycling and metabolism of phosphoinositides. Synaptojanin-1 plays a crucial role in maintaining synaptic function by facilitating the recycling of synaptic vesicles, ensuring efficient neurotransmitter release and communication between neurons.

Target/Biomarker Bovine SYNJ1
Target Synonym Synaptojanin-1; EC 3.1.3.36; Synaptic inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate 5-phosphatase 1
