Target Information
Bovine Endothelin receptor type A is encoded by the EDNRA gene in cattle. It is a subtype of endothelin receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors involved in various physiological functions. When endothelin binds to ETA receptors, it leads to: vasoconstriction (contraction of blood vessel walls) and retention of sodium. The biological effect of EDN1 is mediated via two subtypes of receptors, type A (EDNRA) and type B (EDNRB). EDNRA is primarily localized on vascular smooth muscle cells.
