Target Information

SGK1 is a serine/threonine kinase. It belongs to a subfamily of serine/threonine kinases that is under acute transcriptional control by several stimuli, including serum and glucocorticoids. It inhibits the replication of prototype foamy virus by interfering with the function of the transcription activator Tas and by reducing the stability of the structural protein Gag. Both human and bovine SGK1 proteins inhibit the replication of bovine foamy virus and prototype foamy virus.
