Target Information
PIK3CA is a phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K) that phosphorylates phosphatidylinositol (PI) and its derivatives at position 3 of the inositol ring. It uses ATP and PtdIns (4,5)P2 (phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate) to generate phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3). PIP3 recruits PH domain-containing proteins to the membrane, activating signaling cascades involved in cell growth, survival, proliferation, motility, and morphology. Bovine Phosphatidylinositol-5-Phosphate 4-Kinase Type-2 Gamma is encoded by the PIP4K2C gene in cattle. In beef cattle, this gene is associated with lipid metabolism.
