Target Information

Bcl-2 (B-cell lymphoma 2), encoded by the BCL2 gene, is a founding member of the Bcl-2 family of regulator proteins. These proteins play a crucial role in regulating cell death (apoptosis). Bcl-2 can either inhibit (anti-apoptotic) or induce (pro-apoptotic) apoptosis. Bovine B-Cell Leukemia/Lymphoma 2 is encoded by the BCL2 gene in cattle. It has been reported that increased ratio of bcl-2/bax expression is associated with bovine leukemia virus-induced leukemogenesis in cattle.
