Target Information
In mice, CH25H is an interferon-stimulated enzyme that catalyzes the formation of 25-hydroxycholesterol (25-HC) from cholesterol. It is a critical regulator of the "mevalonate checkpoint," providing a link between lipid metabolism and innate immunity. Murine CH25H is highly expressed in macrophages following TLR4 activation, where it acts to antagonize SREBP signaling and inhibit IL-1beta mediated inflammation. It serves as a fundamental model for studying viral entry inhibition, atherosclerosis, and the metabolic control of inflammatory domestic responses.
