Tolfenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used in veterinary medicine to treat pain, inflammation, and fever in livestock, such as cattle, pigs, and dogs. Its use is regulated by veterinary drug withdrawal periods, which are set to ensure that any drug residues in the animal's tissues (like meat or milk) fall to safe levels before the animal is slaughtered or its products are sold for human consumption. If these withdrawal periods are not followed, there is a potential for residues to be present in the food, which can pose a risk to human health.
