Target Information

Von Willebrand Factor is encoded by the VWF gene in sheep. vWF is a protein that plays a critical role in blood coagulation. It is synthesized in endothelial cells and megakaryocytes and stored in Weibel-Palade bodies in endothelial cells and in alpha granules in platelets. VWF promotes platelet adhesion to the subendothelial matrix at sites of vascular injury. It acts as a bridge between platelets and exposed collagen fibers in damaged blood vessels.
