Target Information
Swine thrombomodulin (THBD) is an endothelial-specific type I membrane receptor that primarily functions by binding thrombin to activate protein C, which in turn degrades coagulation factors Va and VIIIa, reducing thrombin generation, and exerting anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory effects. In swine, research on THBD helps to understand its role in energy metabolism and disease, providing a basis for developing new therapeutic strategies. For example, stable expression of human THBD in porcine endothelial cells through transgenic technology can reduce inflammatory responses and prolong clotting time, which is significant in xenotransplantation . Additionally, THBD plays a key role in regulating vascular endothelial function and immune responses.
