Target Information
Chicken CCN family member 2 (CCN2), also known as connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), is a multifunctional protein that plays a crucial role in the growth and differentiation of chondrocytes in chickens. It is involved in endochondral ossification, a process where cartilage is replaced by bone during development. CCN2 promotes the proliferation and differentiation of growth-plate chondrocytes, leading to hypertrophy and calcification of the matrix, which are essential steps in bone formation. Additionally, CCN2 is implicated in the regulation of various cellular processes, including chemotaxis, adhesion, and extracellular matrix formation by different cell types, such as vascular endothelial cells.
