Target Information
Mouse Lactoperoxidase (Lpo) is a heme-containing enzyme found in the exocrine fluids of animals, such as saliva, tears, and respiratory epithelium. It exerts antibacterial effects by catalyzing the oxidation of hydrogen peroxide. In mice, Lactoperoxidase plays a key role in innate immune defense by generating antimicrobial substances through reactions with hydrogen peroxide and thiocyanate, protecting mucosal surfaces from pathogens. Additionally, it is used in food preservation and antimicrobial treatments, as well as in dental applications to prevent dental caries and plaque buildup.
