Target Information
Swine cathepsin K (CTSK) is a cysteine protease predominantly expressed in mature osteoclasts and plays a significant role in bone resorption. It is secreted into the resorption lacunae where it degrades type I collagen, a major component of bone extracellular matrix. This function is crucial for bone remodeling and is a key enzyme in the osteoclastic bone resorption process.
