Target Information
Swine tissue factor (F3) is a cell surface glycoprotein that primarily initiates blood coagulation following vascular damage. It functions as a high-affinity receptor for coagulation factor VII, forming a complex that activates factors IX and X, thereby triggering the coagulation protease cascades. In swine, the expression of F3 is crucial for maintaining normal coagulation functions, and genetic variations in F3 may be associated with the risk of thrombosis. Additionally, F3 plays important roles in inflammatory responses and immune regulation, such as in African swine fever virus infection, where the I267L gene modulates hemorrhagic symptoms by suppressing F3 expression.
