Target Information
Swine CCL8, also known as Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-2 (MCP-2), is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family. It is encoded by the CCL8 gene on human chromosome 17 and is primarily expressed in the small intestine and peripheral blood cells. CCL8 serves as a chemoattractant for monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils, and eosinophils, mediating the host response in inflammation. It can bind to several chemokine receptors, including CCR1, CCR2B, CCR3, and CCR5, and plays a role in immune responses, inflammation, and the recruitment of immune cells to sites of infection or injury.
