Target Information
Mouse Endoglin (Eng) is a RGD-domain-containing transmembrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in angiogenesis and vascular development. It is highly expressed on endothelial cells and is involved in the regulation of TGF-β signaling pathways. Endoglin forms a complex with TGF-β receptors, modulating their signaling to regulate cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. Mutations in the endoglin gene can lead to hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), a disorder characterized by abnormal blood vessel formation. In cancer, endoglin is overexpressed in tumor vasculature and is associated with poor prognosis. It is a target for anti-angiogenic therapies, with antibodies like TRC105 showing promise in preclinical studies.
