Target Information
Mouse Dystroglycan 1 (Dag1) encodes a key component of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex, which links the extracellular matrix to the cytoskeleton. It is cleaved into α-DG and β-DG subunits. α-DG, highly glycosylated, binds to laminins, agrin, and neurexins, while β-DG anchors α-DG to the cell membrane and interacts with dystrophin. DAG1 is crucial for muscle integrity and neuronal migration. Its deficiency causes muscular dystrophy and brain abnormalities.
